External factors that cause infertility

Introduction

Many people believe that the essence of marriage is to reproduce and continue with their lineage from one generation to another. This is usually applicable after the factor of companionship has been put into consideration. Most or even all married couples always get thrilled at the thought of receiving a new being bearing their combined resemblance to the outside world. However, this often turns out to be a disappointment to some couples. This is because they will end up searching for a child for years until it reaches that difficult and betraying moment that they chose unwillingly to give up. This can be attributed to infertility affecting either of the partners or both.

Infertility in simple terms is the biological failure of a woman to conceive after practicing unprotected sex for a long time with her husband. In a nutshell, we are going to examine the things that decrease fertility especially the external factors.

Things that decrease fertility

External factors

Smoking Cigarette or tobacco smoking often have antagonistic effects on the fertility of an individual. For instance, in males, production of sperms, responsiveness, and morphology are affected negatively. DNA is also at a high risk of being damaged. In females, the cigarette smoke may cause a change in hormonal levels found in the luteal phase and diversify the micro-environment of the follicles. A report shows that women who smoke are likely to reach their menopause from between 1-4 years earlier than their counterparts who never smoke.

Weight

Obesity often leads to higher risks for cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The reproductive health of individuals is at risk if they register low body weight and obesity. This is because these two factors usually cause a hormonal imbalance as well as interfering with the ovulation process.

Diet

Causes Infetility Diet

The kind of a diet taken by an individual is a direct determinant of their reproductive health. Diet is a fundamental necessity for reproduction. It determines the body weight an individual acquires and how the body functions. A healthy diet is duly recommended for optimal body functioning and psychological health maintenance. Lack of a healthy diet can lead to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, low body weight and osteoporosis which can cumulatively cause infertility.

Exercise

Exercising regularly is a necessary practice to maintain a good and strong healthy living style. Lack of exercise can lead to cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, blood sugar imbalance in the body and obesity which are the actual primary factors that contribute to infertility. Exercise reduces any risk that could cause ovulatory infertility.

Caffeine

Caffeine is found in tea, coffee, and some soft drinks. It is a stimulant. It can alter hormonal levels in females hence affecting the functionality of the corpus luteal and the process of ovulation. This can lead to infertility.

Alcohol

Causes Infetility Alchohol

Alcohol consumption can decrease infertility at considerable lengths. Consuming alcohol can cause the estrogen hormone to rise hence reducing the secretion of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) which suppresses folliculogenesis and the process of ovulation. It can also interfere with the ovum maturity, affect the growth of blastocyst and implantation.

These are some of the factors that can interfere with your fertility. So be aware of what you consume and your lifestyle if still, you have any issues or question regarding infertility you can get in touch with us for advice and medical support.
