Some of the Requirements to Become a Surrogate

• Be prepared to be available and willing to attend many doctors’ appointments
• Be in good overall health
• Be ready to attend counselling, psychological and legal, before and possibly during surrogacy arrangement
• Live in surrogacy friendly state or country
• Have had at least one healthy pregnancy & birth in the past
• Be older than 21 but younger than 35(some exceptions can be made for a known gestational carrier).

It is very crucial to find a reputable surrogacy and egg donor agency that will have a good amount database of surrogates and donors for its intending parents to review. Photos of the donor at various stages of life, a video, and background information are available at most agencies.

When intending parents choose a donor, the agency will check on the availability, if the donor is ready to move forward. On the donor ‘’to-do’’ list are medical appointments, genetic tests, vaginal ultrasound, Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels, AMH for follicle sizes.

• Physically and emotionally healthy
• You should have regular monthly periods
